2012 Cobb Hill Shiitake Mushrooms Shares
Cobb Hill Mushrooms will be selling mushroom shares from our log-grown shiitakes this
summer! Log grown shiitakes are incredibly nutritious and healthy. They can be
sautéed, roasted, or baked and are tasty companions for soup, stew, grill and stir fry
dishes. Drying is also another way to prolong the season for winter treats.

Mountain Farm vegetable CSA pick up)
Location: Cobb Hill Farm Stand in Hartland Four
Corners.
Duration: 12 weeks (June 27– September 19)
Share Types: ½ lb, 1 lb or 2 lb each week
Shelf life: best if used within 1 week but will keep
approximately 2 weeks in veggie drawer in the
fridge in a paper bag .
Costs:
1/2 pound for $7/week = $84 (enough for a hearty meal)
1 pound for $12/week = $144 (enough to enjoy in a few meals)
2 pounds for $22/week = $264 (you are in mushroom heaven!- put some by for winter).
Our Operation: We have approximately 500 logs. Logs are stored and fruit outside. No
additives or fertilizers are used in cultivation. Logs are attained
from sustainable forestry practices such as thinning or stand
improvement practices. For more information on cultivation
and nutrition see: www.cedarmountainfarm.org
Why so much for mushrooms?
Our price is based on regional standards for log-grown
mushrooms. Most shiitakes sold in supermarkets are grown
indoors on blocks of sawdust or grain. Outdoor mushrooms are
typically more robust, nutritious, and better keepers than
sawdust grown. The nutritional value is more in line with
animal proteins than vegetables.
Shares are limited!
